Terms of Service

1. Introduction

Welcome to SplitterUp. By accessing or using our mobile application, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the service.

2. Use of Service

SplitterUp provides expense splitting and management services. You agree to use the service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and password.

3. User Responsibilities

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update such information to keep it accurate, current, and complete. You are solely responsible for all activities that occur under your account.

4. Bank Account Linking (Discontinued)

SplitterUp previously offered an optional bank import feature that linked bank accounts through Teller, a third-party bank data aggregation service. Teller ceased operations, and the feature has been withdrawn. SplitterUp no longer links bank accounts and no longer accesses transaction data. If you connected a bank account before the feature was withdrawn, see section 4 of our Privacy Policy for how to have any remaining associated data removed.

5. License Grant

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, SplitterUp grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use the application on devices that you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use.

6. Intellectual Property

The SplitterUp application, including all content, features, functionality, design, text, graphics, logos, and software, is owned by SplitterUp and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the application, nor may you reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the software.

7. Subscriptions and In-App Purchases

SplitterUp is currently free to use, with all features included and no purchase required. If we introduce pricing, Premium will be unlocked by a one-time purchase of $4.99 rather than a recurring subscription, and accounts created while SplitterUp is free will keep Premium at no cost. The price of a one-time purchase may change for future purchasers, but Premium once unlocked stays unlocked and is never billed again.

Bank Import is the one exception we anticipate. It was retired when our banking data provider shut down, and any replacement provider charges an ongoing per-user fee for bank connections. If Bank Import returns, it would therefore be a separate paid add-on and may be offered as an auto-renewable subscription. If you purchase a subscription for that or any other add-on, you agree to the following:

  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase
  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period
  • Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the rate of the selected plan
  • You can manage and cancel your subscriptions by going to your Account Settings on the App Store or Google Play Store after purchase
  • Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription
  • Prices are in U.S. dollars and may vary in other countries. Prices are subject to change, but any price change will not affect your current billing period

No purchase is required to use SplitterUp today. If paid options are introduced, the current prices and available purchase options will be shown in the app and on the App Store and Google Play listings at the time of purchase.

8. Privacy

We are committed to protecting your privacy: we do not collect, sell, or share your personal data with third parties.

Your use of SplitterUp is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Please review it to understand our practices regarding data security and your rights.

9. Prohibited Activities

You may not use SplitterUp to:

  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Infringe upon the rights of others
  • Transmit any harmful or malicious code
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service

10. Limitation of Liability

SplitterUp is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of or inability to use the service. Without limiting the foregoing, we make no warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of financial data obtained through linked bank accounts, and we shall not be liable for any losses or damages arising from reliance on such data.

11. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the service immediately, without prior notice, for any reason, including if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the service will cease immediately. All provisions of these Terms which by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, and limitations of liability.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Texas.

13. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
